How the 2026 Tesla Roadster's 4 Trims, Active Aero, and Scissor Doors Shape Wrap Design

Explore how the 2026 Tesla Roadster trim levels, scissor doors, gold glazing and active aero shape concept wrap layouts, panel placement and design choices.

The 2026 Tesla Roadster combines an angular body with gold-tinted glazing, scissor-style doors, moving aerodynamic surfaces and optional cold-gas thrusters. Tesla’s Roadster page and the engineering interview with Lars Moravy and Franz von Holzhausen provide the reference points for this design study.

This is a concept design guide, not a Roadster template download. Tesla Wrap Lab does not currently include a Roadster-specific model or editor. You can apply the same visual themes to a supported Tesla template while preserving that vehicle’s own panel layout.

Whether you are creating a 3D concept livery today or preparing layered vector artwork for future templates, understanding the physical anatomy of the four Roadster trims will keep your stripes straight and prevent your key graphics from getting swallowed by panel gaps or vents.

Comparing the 4 Tesla Roadster Versions for Livery Designers

At the McGregor reveal and in follow-up engineering briefings with Tesla VP of Engineering Lars Moravy and Chief Designer Franz von Holzhausen (Roadster engineering interview; Tesla Roadster design overview), Tesla detailed four distinct versions of the Roadster. Each trim changes the exterior visual brief. These are announced configurations and design references; final production details can change. Tesla’s current Roadster page presents Performance, Thrust and Rocket, while the base Standard specification was discussed in the engineering coverage:

Trim LevelSeating & Tank LayoutThruster & Aero Hardware0–60 mph & Top SpeedBest Livery & Wrap Theme

Performance2 Seats ("Supersonic" white & gray microsuede cabin)Multi-mode 2G suction fan system, movable underbody skirts, active rear wingUnder 1.6 seconds (> 230 mph)Ano White Track Spec: High-contrast lower suction-skirt accents and Track Mode aero callouts
Thrust (Limited Release)2 Seats + 200-liter carbon-fiber compressed air tankAdds 4 rear-mounted cold-gas thruster nozzles for straight-line & cornering thrustUnder 0.9 seconds (0.85s quoted by executives)Rear Plume & Exhaust Gradient: White-hot to ember-red tail gradients framing the 4 rear thruster ports

5 Exterior Hardware Features Every Roadster Wrap Designer Must Account For

1. The Gold-Tinted Spacesuit Visor Canopy Eliminates Center-Roof Artwork

The 2026 Roadster features a copper-tinted gold glass canopy inspired by astronaut helmet visors (Roadster engineering interview; Roadster-inspired AI wrap ideas). Because the glass spans the center of the roof, full-length over-the-top racing stripes are interrupted between the windshield header and the rear deck.

2. Manual Scissor Doors Create Diagonal Front-Fender Cut Lines

To save weight and embrace supercar ergonomics, the Roadster uses manual upward-lifting scissor doors (Roadster engineering interview).

3. Active Aero Panels Open on the Hood, Fenders, and Rear Deck

According to Roadster engineering interview and Tesla Roadster design overview, active aerodynamics cover nearly every surface of the Roadster:

4. Hidden Pop-Down Headlights and the Full-Width Rear Taillight

The front nose features hidden pop-down headlights and an angular Cybercab/Cybertruck-inspired fascia, while the tail is bisected by a single full-width LED light strip (Roadster engineering interview; Tesla Roadster design overview).

5. Asymmetric Single-Seat Layout on the "Rocket" Trim

On the invite-only Rocket version, the passenger seat is removed entirely to house a 400-liter carbon-fiber overwrapped pressure vessel (bringing total compressed air capacity to 600 liters across 10 thrusters, see Roadster engineering interview).

Apply the Design Principles to Your Current Tesla

Keep the Roadster concept artwork separate from vehicle-ready files. For an installable digital wrap, choose Model 3 Highland, Model Y Premium or Cybertruck, preserve that template’s UV islands, and rebuild the theme around its actual doors, lamps and bumpers. Check the official-template status guide before treating any Roadster concept PNG as vehicle compatible.
